Part-time Faculty
Part-time faculty issues have always been a central concern of FA. The Agreement provides part-timers with a salary schedule ranked among the highest statewide and a unique seniority system for getting assignments. In addition, part-time faculty are entitled to personal necessity and sick leave, to special pay for a weekly office hour, as well as any required meetings, and to apply for reimbursement for professional conference expenses and, depending upon their annual load, district-paid medical benefits.
FA routinely appoints at least one part-time faculty member to the FA negotiating team and has recently created an additional staff position reserved for part-time faculty. And, of course, part-time faculty are eligible to run for any FA office.
